New Years SelfieHello there. Remember me? I thought I would start this post with a photo of me, just in case you’ve forgotten me, given that it’s been well over a month since I last blogged (note: if you recently saw me at the Bloggers BBQ or Sydney Sea Life Aquarium, please allow for more flattering angles than real life, filters and non-melted-in-the-heat make up if recognition is a little difficult).

To get back into the blogging flow, I’ve decided to dump all the little bits and pieces I’ve been collecting in the hope that they would miraculously evolve into full posts here. If it makes no sense, I blame the fact that I’ve not been alone in six weeks. I might, possibly, be on the verge of crazy and in desperate need of some quiet time to myself. At the same time, I don’t really want the holidays to end. Go figure.

Over Christmas, James managed discover an obsession with decorating the house with lights. In my (humble and highly unbiased) opinion we were the best lights in town. Our big annual family holiday saw me acquire another adorable child and do my biggest bike ride since I got my lovely new bike at the end of last year into Wollongong. 17.2kms. That’s a big deal for me.

We accidentally saw in the year with a free You Am I concert in Canberra and some lovely fireworks and the year so far has been fun and frustrating and busy. Jasper went from almost completely toilet trained to constantly ‘forgetting’ to go to the toilet and going through all of his undies in a couple of days. Thankfully, he’s also the cutest boy going ’round and is utterly adorable while driving me crazy.

The girls have been at each other most days from sun up to sun down. At one stage, I thought I might literally start ripping my hair out of my head. Thankfully, I’m terrified that my head is abnormally shaped and that stopped me in my tracks. As a family, though, we have had too many delicious moments to count. Ice creams by Darling Harbour, having sharks swim over and around us at the Aquarium, walks on the beach, nights sitting in the glow of our Christmas lights. We’ve seen three lots of fireworks so far and it’s not even the end of January!

Even though I started this year without even trying to think of any resolutions, I am starting to think it will be our best yet. That as a family we’re going to rock it, learn, be and do. Even with me having been put back on anti depressants at the end of last year (yea, that happened) and feeling some effects of anxiety of late, I think this is going to be a good year.

Well, if I don’t have to get mad about the things our government is doing.

news-140127-1-Poster-FEB-rally-600wWhat have you been up to over the holidays?
Are you relieved they’re coming to an end?

Linking up with Jess for #ibot
